Frequently Asked Questions

What is an art collective?

Wiki defines an art collective as “the result of a group of artists working together, usually under their own management, towards shared aims. The aims of an artist collective can include almost anything relevant to the needs of the artist; this can range from purchasing bulk materials, sharing equipment, space, or materials, to following shared ideologies, aesthetic and political views. Sharing of ownership, risk, benefits, and status is implied, as opposed to other, more common business structures with an explicit hierarchy of ownership.” In our case, it’s all of this in a network of artists, activists, organizers, designers, and friends.

How do you support your artists?

All sales from original artwork and reproductions benefit the artist directly. Programming like our Micro-grants and Supply Exchange provide direct material support to artists, creatives, and activists. We also support artists with our platform through programs like our Instagram Takeover and Artist Talk series.

How do you support your community?

100% of the sales of artwork featured in our BLM/ACLU Fundraiser has been donated to the cause. We have also partnered with the Dorian De Long Arts and Music Scholarship to donate 20% of the proceeds from our MAKE, PLAY, READ! campaign to support artsy students in our own backyard.

Do you take contributions?

Our Micro-grant program is a great way to donate directly to artists.

What are “prints”?

The term ‘print’ refers to a reproduction of a given artwork, not the original artwork itself. Prints can be signed or unsigned, in a series or unnumbered, made by hand or machine. We do our best to have all our prints signed by the artist.
